Your Tasks

  • Technical Leadership : You own the "How" for our PostgreSQL Flex Service across product teams with more than 10 team members. As a player-coach, you lead by example by guiding architectural decisions and by not hesitating to touch the codebase and configuration when strategic challenges arise.
  • Product Development & Architecture: In partnership with the Product Owner, you shape the future of our Managed Database Services. You design robust, scalable, and highly available Postgres solutions within a cloud ecosystem.
  • -Automation & DBaaS Innovation: You drive our "Self-Service" model. You lead the automation of deployment, patching, and scaling processes via REST APIs, ensuring a seamless experience for our customers.
  • People & Culture: You mentor engineers toward technical excellence, foster a positive collaborative culture, and take a lead role in recruiting and developing a world-class engineering team.
  • Operational Excellence (SRE): Embracing "You build it, you run it," you implement SRE practices to ensure maximum reliability, performance tuning, and data integrity throughout the entire service lifecycle.
  • Strategic Collaboration: You bridge the gap between engineering and business stakeholders, contributing your expertise to working groups like the Architecture Board.

Your Profile

  • Leadership Mindset: Proven experience in leading engineering teams to collective success by fostering psychological safety and setting a clear architectural vision.
  • Database Proficiency: Experience with databases like PostgreSQL, MariaDB or MS SQL Server, especially in areas like high availability, replication, performance optimization and database design.
  • Software Engineering: Proven track record in software engineering and architecture in distributed systems - from code to cloud-native deployment.
  • Cloud-Native Proficiency: Highly familiar with cloud environments (e.g. Kubernetes, Operator patterns) and building infrastructure-controlling APIs.
  • Automation & Observability: Secure use of a wide range of automation tools as well as profound knowledge in building modern monitoring landscapes.
  • Analytical & Strategic: Excellent problem-solving skills for complex performance bottlenecks and the ability to align technical roadmaps with business goals.
  • Communication: Fluent in English, enabling you to lead and collaborate effectively within our international, agile environment.
