What you´ll do

We are looking for a talented Cloud Engineer (m/f/d) to join our skilled R&D team in order to evolve our proprietary engine for generating highly personalized advertising promotions, serving a large number of
users. As a member of our Cloud Platform team you are responsible for operating and evolving our system on Google Cloud Platform, which includes automating our infrastructure, building infrastructure products to boost developer productivity and own our incident and post-mortem processes. At Schwarz Media Platform, we believe in cross-functional, agile teams and you will regularly join our data-, software- and machine learning teams to work on SMP projects.

You will be given responsibility and autonomy on how best to achieve this objective and collaborate with a team of software developers, machine learning engineers, data engineers, and product managers who will support you. This role is crucial to help scale our vision of making marketing relevant and impactful!

• Deliver a part of our resilient, scalable & cost-effective cloud architecture on GCP
• Design and implement infrastructure products (e.g. deployment, monitoring) to enable our feature teams to ship value to our customers
• Work on all levels of our platform (i.e. network, compute, storage, frameworks, software)
• Automate our infrastructure and processes with tools like Terraform
• Introduce best practices for infrastructure and software security
• Enjoy the autonomy in reaching your goals and plenty of opportunities for growth, as learning is crucial at SMP
• Support in resolving and preventing potential incidents as part of a tech response team in a blameless culture
• Participate in 24/7 on-call duty to ensure system stability and availability (remunerated in addition to base salary)

What you´ll bring along

• Experience in operating microservice architectures in production within cloud providers (GCP preferred) and familiarity with relevant technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
• Experience in defining monitoring and alerting for complex IT solutions (Prometheus, Grafana,Alertmanager)
• Background in defining infrastructure as code (Terraform)
• Scripting skills and automation mindset
• 4+ years experience as a DevOps Engineer and a minimum of 3 years with one or multiple cloud providers
• At least 2 years work experience in Europe or North America
• Professional English 
• Eligible to work in Germany or Spain 

Great if you have also experience with

• Modern container architecture and service meshes (e.g. Linkerd, Istio)
• Software and infrastructure security
• CI/CD tools (ArgoCD, Google Cloud Build)
• Big data systems like Apache Spark, Apache Beam & Apache Kafka
