You're interested in shaping the digital future of Europe's leading retail group and building our cutting-edge cloud and colocation business from scratch? Then you will fit right in as a Cloud Storage  Engineer (m/f/d) at STACKIT. We're a young corporate startup for digital services, from colocation to cloud. As part of the Schwarz Group, which also owns the Lidl and Kaufland retail brands, we strive to shape the European cloud market in the long run. To realize this vision, we are looking for STACKITeers (m/f/d) who contribute their innovative ideas and go-getter mindset to tackling future challenges.

What You’ll Do

  • You take care of the various storage systems in the areas of block-, object-, backup- and cold-storage in highly available environments (e.g. NetApp, Cohesity, Pure, Quantum)
  • You continue to develop the infrastructure API (e.g. provision of additional storage functionalities as self-service via REST API)
  • You extend and improve the current storage environment with further solution scenarios (e.g. introduction of new storage systems, development of new regions)
  • You are responsible for the surrounding system landscape of the storage environment (e.g. self-service API, virtualization, Kubernetes, monitoring and logging)
  • You create and maintain the professional documentation for efficient use and stable operation of the platform (e.g. for customers and internal teams)
  • You are part of the development of a high-performance cloud platform based on Linux and OpenStack with a focus on storage (in particular OpenStack cinder, KVM, etc...)
  • You are part of a motivated team that likes to strive for improvement and continuously develops itself (and the products)

What You’ll Need

  • You have experience and know the market in one or more of the areas of block-, object-, backup- and cold-storage (e.g. solution scenarios, deployment, operation, scaling options, migration)
  • You have already worked with APIs and developed them (e.g. REST API with Python, Go, Rust)
  • You have experience with infrastructure as code in automated environments (e.g. CI/CD, pipelines, Kubernetes)
  • You know the challenges of (self-)operation of storage systems (e.g. protocols, troubleshooting, performance analysis, high availability, lifecycle)
  • You have good knowledge of automation (e.g. using Python, Bash, Ansible)
  • You feel comfortable in open source-based virtualization and container environments
  • You bring passion and enthusiasm for new technologies and topics related to various storage systems

What You’ll Receive

We are a diverse, international team of experts who have their heads stuck in the cloud but are otherwise firmly on the ground. Our highly motivated tech enthusiasts, product strategists and creative minds look forward to receiving your application if you identify yourself with us:

  • Our environment: A young brand with an agile mindset on the shoulders of the Schwarz Group, which also includes the retail chains Lidl and Kaufland
  • Our mindset: Open doors and flat hierarchies, fresh ideas and impulses are just as welcome as thinking outside the box
  • Our flexibility: The option of working at our locations in Heilbronn and Berlin or - if the area of responsibility allows it - remotely up to 5 days per week
  • Our team: Diverse and multicultural, everyone contributes their own strengths. We move mountains together and constantly improve our portfolio
  • Our promise: An attractive salary, 30 days of vacation and numerous opportunities for further development
