The impact you will create:

• You design flexible control concepts (e.g., vPLC, edge computing, containerization at the field level) and seamlessly connect OT hardware with IT systems.
• You create reusable software and system components for modular greenfield and brownfield scenarios in our plants.
• You evaluate functional safety requirements (PL/SIL), pragmatically integrate standard safety concepts into the overall architecture, and collaborate with certified partners as needed.
• You evaluate new Industrial IT trends (e.g., Industrial DevOps, OPC UA, MQTT, Linux Edge) and translate practical approaches into viable pilot projects.
• You document modular standards and enable both the product team and local plant teams during implementation.

Experience and skills you will need:

• Completed degree (Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, Computer Engineering) or a comparable qualification with solid practical experience.
• Solid knowledge of common PLC environments (e.g., Beckhoff TwinCAT, Siemens TIA, CODESYS) as well as interfaces (OPC UA, MQTT, fieldbus).
• Initial experience or strong interest in innovative topics such as control virtualization, edge devices, containerization, or CI/CD pipelines for automation.
• Understanding of functional safety (SIL / PL) to proactively incorporate safety concepts into architectures.
• You enjoy tinkering, prototyping, and understanding real pain points within production facilities.
• You communicate confidently in written and spoken German and English.
